2011

Press Release • June 15, 2011 • Marlow Acquires historic Merrill-Stevens Shipyard, Miami
David Marlow, Chairman of Marlow Yachts and related companies is pleased to announce the successful acquisition of the historical Merrill-Stevens north and south yard facilities in their entirety. Merrill-Stevens began operations in 1885 and has over 126 years of proud history servicing Commercial, Pleasure and Military vessels.

The beginnings of the impressive operation were humble, as Captain James Gilman Merrill originally opened a small blacksmith shop along the shores of the St. John's River in 1866. Located in Jacksonville, Florida, the leading deep-water port in the Florida Territories at the time, the small blacksmith shop grew considerably during the next 10 years, operating as an ironworks primarily serving the marine trade. The company was formally incorporated in 1885 by James Eugene Merrill, making Merrill-Stevens Florida's oldest continuously operating company today.

In recent times the famed yard was beset by difficult economic conditions causing a diminution of her proud past. It is Marlow’s firm plan to restore that dignity and proud heritage to its proper place as perhaps the most iconic yard in our nation.

Located on the equally historical Miami River and in business since 1885, Merrill-Stevens has played an important role in the development and maintenance of America’s yachting and commercial vessel scene. The long and storied tenure includes proud and major roles in support of the United States in several global conflicts, including the production of support vessels such as PT 91 and others during WWII and beyond. It is Marlow’s intention to once again interact and support our nation’s fleet of Coast Guard and other agency’s requirement with priority service at equitable rates.

Marlow Merrill-Stevens is capable of hauling up to 500 tons with the onsite Synchro-Lift or separate railway of similar capacity with support by conventional Travelift equipment for enhanced portability. The fully equipped machine shop and other full support facilities will be upgraded, maintained, certified and refurbished to world class standards. Deep draft vessels present no obstacle to either the north or south facility with the now completed dredging of the Miami River to 21’ depth.

Starting immediately, the process of restoration, the offering of enhanced services and related community involvement matters have clear marching orders. Providing a strong influence on the restoration and conservation of Marlow Merrill-Stevens and the renaissance of the unique and storied Miami River are the ongoing efforts of multifaceted community based groups with the common goal of the Miami Riverfront preservation. When completed the yard will appear park like, kept spotlessly clean like all Marlow facilities and offer the most complete array of services in the marine industry from new builds of virtually any size to complete rehabilitation of fine yachts.

Marlow is now and has been for many years at the forefront of sustainable environmental practices on a global setting, leading the way with more respectful work place habits and technology from forestry through unique and unrivaled green manufacturing processes. These are highlighted by our proprietary Full Stack Infusion® process that virtually eliminates atmospheric release of harmful chemicals while producing mechanically and cosmetically superior products.

It is with great pleasure and pride that we begin this new and exciting phase of the continued growth of our companies consistent with our long held policies of environmental stewardship, excellence in the marine and related trades with conscious efforts to provide and promote good employment practices under best possible working environment. The direct and indirect creation of hundreds of respectable jobs with significant capital infusion will enhance the entire industry over time. This large investment to the Marine Industry during turbulent global times exemplifies Marlow’s commitment to the industry spanning over 45 years to date.

Press Release • June 20, 2011 • Marlow Sponsors Fireworks for Eastport Pirate Festival
The Eastport Pirate Festival will celebrate its 6th year September 9-11. In the last 6 years it has
grown into the largest Pirate Festival in Maine and the Maritimes. It has become one of Maine's
largest family events drawing over 10,000 people of all ages to this island community of only
1400. Every year they have been able to take it up a notch adding new and exciting events - 95%
of them are free to everyone that comes to participate.

This year the Eastport Pirate Festival will add a spectacular fireworks display on Saturday
evening the 10th of September, weather permitting. The fireworks are being sponsored by David
Marlow, founder and CEO of Marlow Yachts Limited. Marlow is one of the top builders of yachts
in the world. They have been continuously recognized for building some of the best Superyachts
on the planet. Marlow was recently awarded the coveted World Superyachts Award for their
environmental policies. This Environmental Award was presented to David Marlow during a
Gala Evening at the fabulous Fondazione Giorgio Cini in Venice, Italy.
"The World Superyachts Awards are presented annually and the elite judging panel is comprised
of owners, project managers, captains, naval architects, shipyard owners and engineers," says
Pirate Festival founder John Miller. "Marlow Yachts have pioneered environmentally
responsible marine manufacturing on a global basis and we are delighted to have David as a
neighbor here in Eastport and part of our festival family."

The fireworks will take place on the historic waterfront over the harbor in the heart of all of the
festival activities. At this location Mother Nature is a true partner in the evening
performance. Fireworks firms and spectators alike agree that the historic Eastport Waterfront is
the ideal venue for such a dazzling event. Imagine a majestic natural setting of a beautiful harbor
and a backdrop of a dozen or so magical islands in the distance. What a setting! What an
atmosphere! Nowhere else do fireworks teams have the opportunity to tap the potential of such a

stunning natural setting to create instants of pure enchantment. Along the downtown corridor of Eastport
there is room for thousands of spectators to sit and enjoy the evening performance for free.
The first Eastport Pirate Festival was born 6 years ago over coffee and watching the sunrise over
the historic island harbor. "With no budget and just a few volunteers we were delighted and
amazed to see over 1000 people arrive for that first year's event," says Miller. "Each year it has
grown exponentially. We now have a cadre of volunteers that work year round and over 400
people and businesses that donate generously to make sure it remains an event that is free to
attend and always growing and getting better. I may have planted the seed, but this incredible
community of Eastport is truly responsible for the rapid growth of this great event."

The Eastport Pirate Festival is pure family fun for all the participants of all ages. It also provides a
tremendous boost to our local economy before the snows of the long winter set in.
Last year the Pirate Festival added the first International (Pirate) Lobster Boat Race. Lobster
Boat Racing is big on the coast of Maine and their race included invitations to Lobstermen from
Canada thus making it the only International Lobster Boat Race in the world. The Eastport
Pirate Lobster Boat Race drew the top names in Lobster Boat Racing including the fastest in the
world (70 MPH), owned by Galen Alley of Jonesport, Maine. The Lobster Boat Race will be back
this year with even more boats. The pageantry, adrenalin and excitement that filled Eastport's
harbor last year was nothing short of spectacular.

Without a doubt, The Eastport Pirate Festival has become one of the top marquee events for the
end of summer in all of Maine and Atlantic Canada.
In addition to the fireworks being added this year they will also add skydivers dressed as
pirates to the Invasion of Lubec on September 3rd so that the Pirate Invasion of Lubec that kicks
of the Festival the week before is by Land, Sea and Air. They will also add an Eastport Pirate
Festival Fiddle Contest to the line-up of entertainment. The fiddle was used on Pirate Ships and
other ships throughout history to create the rhythm to work on the rigging, hoist the sails, do the
chores on deck, head into battle and the all important evening entertainment. More vendors and
quality crafts people are being sought for the 3 day event. They are also reaching out to buskers
from all over the USA to perform in the streets. Buskers go back to the Middle Ages and are
traditional street performers.

Make sure to visit the Eastport Pirate Festival website for updated
information, schedule and a list of events at www.eastportpiratefestival.com

June 2011 •  PassageMaker • Marlow Explorer 57E • by Chris Caswell with photos by Billy BlackLike all Marlow yachts, the 57E has benefited from David Marlow’s constant tinkering. After building 32 of the53 Cover Passagemaker Marlow 53-57’s, David just had to start fiddling. The first result was a reduction in drag by making subtle changes in the hull design. Next he made the prop pockets more efficient allowing a drop in the reduction gearing from 2.5:1 to 2:1. The size of the props for the engines in this boat provide a good balance between economy and performance.

At one point, we were moseying along at 8.6 knots and 900 rpm using just 4gph. Total! Pull the throttles ofthe Cat C18’s back to 700 rpm, and you are sliding along a just a freckle under 7 knots. While consuming a gallon per hour. Uno. Eins. One. At that rate, it would take a cruise of 9,642nm to empty the standard tanks.

This Marlow 57E can hustle along at just under 30knots. At higher cruising speeds, I found she has a sweet spot around 2000-2100 rpm, giving her speeds in the 23-25 knot range using just 70 percent power for long engine life.

The fact remains that this well-found craft offers speed when you need it, economy across a wide performance range, and the reliability and comfort you’d expect in a luxury cruising yacht.

April 2011 • Showboats International • Irish Rover by Marilyn Mower with photos by Scott Pearson It has been 10 years since Marlow Yachts debuted at the Miami Boat show. This year, the yard introduced the 97E, its first yacht with an overall length of 100 feet. A series of deliberate steps brought David Marlow to this moment.

“I was approached a number of years ago by a customer who really wanted me to build him a hundred-foot Explorer, but I wasn’t ready, and I told him I wouldn’t take his money just to experiment,” says Marlow. “We had a lot of things to learn to do first.” Two things were chief on that list: Improving hull efficiency and improving composite construction. Going farther and faster on less fuel is his end game.
His design doodles, equations, and experiments to develop the twin keel concept fill volumes but boils down to this: The strut keels exit the underbody of the hull in line with the engines aft of amidships at about the point at which the deadrise begins to morph into tunnels. The keels, a NACA foil shape, work like feathers on an arrow directing the flow of water. They aid in tracking, create lift in the after section when the yacht heels, dampen pitch, flatten the stern wave, and reduce parasitic drag by enclosing the rotating propeller shaft for most of its length. They also protect the propellers from debris and groundings.

In 2009 Marlow Yachts won an NMMA Innovation Award for its Full Stack Infusion-a proprietary lamination process where the entire hull is infused with resin in one hour. The magic occurs inside a fully enclosed mold using extreme vacuum. Infusion saves time (the traditional lay-up method took 36 days for a 78 footer), and 3 barrels of resin (translate: weight!)

The final part of making sure he was ready for a 100 footer was to achieve certification by ABS, Lloyds Register (A Ocean Class), ISO 9001 and, finally, Bureau Veitas unrestricted navigation.
David Marlow’s search for optimal solutions-and the fact that he incentivizes his yard workers to innovate-is revealed in detail upon detail; a hundred little links in the chain that have led, on this day, to Irish Rover.

January 2011 • Southern Boating • Stem to Stern -Marlow's Big Boat - Times Two David Marlow, Chairman of Marlow Yachts, is quite a prolific thinker, and most of the time he's thinking about his yachts and how to build them better. It pays off - each time he launches a new model, it is always fresh and innovative. David's latest launch, the Marlow 97E, is his biggest yacht yet and it doesn't disappoint. The second 97E is on it's way to the US and will feature an open bridge with a hardtop while the one here has an enclosed command bridge.

2010

May 2010 • News from around the yard...This spring, the Marlow yard is filled with a variety of yachts under service and delivery. I believe that ME78E-39 already has more than one thousand miles under her keel since leaving the yard, wandering down through the Keys and the Bahamas before crossing the Stream and on to her covered slip on the St. Johns River in Jacksonville.
Having just delivered hull #39 of the 78 series, we are now nearing completion of hull number 32 of the 57E Series and it is a beauty. Arriving just three days before our annual Rendezvous, the yard crew worked almost around the clock to make sure the new owners could come with us and spend a few days aboard among other owners.
There are Grand Banks having refurbish work including complete stripping and refinishing of a 46 Classic, a late model 42 we brokered and have replaced the aluminum water tanks in and a just listed and sold 36 Classic awaiting survey and completion of a variety of maintenance tasks.
At our recent Owners Rendezvous we were able to inspect ELMER, a fine vintage 42 Classic GB that we replaced the fuel tanks and refurbished a bit a number of years ago. At the time, our standard method of replacing the fuel tanks was looked on in horror (mock) by other yards, as we remove them intact through the side of the hull, allowing us to have total access to the machinery spaces and never enter the salon. The end result is slightly more fuel capacity than original in identical appearing tanks with all original valves and plumbing in lieu of a patchwork of piping for multiple small tanks that would confuse Einstein.
When completed the shiny new fresh bilge is a joy and no evidence whatever is there to tell anyone where the incision was made. Now, many years and many similar boats later, it is the same. Not a line, not a trace of the incision or repair is visible, nor will it ever be.
We have just loaded a brokerage Island Packet 35 on an over the road trailer, preparing it for a land journey north to its new owner.
In the shed, Marlow Explorer hulls 78--17, 65-2, 78-7 and 57-22 are all in the midst of annual maintenance. We are proud that the owners chose to bring them from considerable distances to have us perform the work to top class standards. 78-6 is next door at the yacht club with her new owners aboard, provisioning for a cruise to Labrador. The Budden family favored us with a second Marlow Explorer purchase following their well traveled 65 that explored the glaciers of the far north last summer before bringing a resale of approximately what she cost new, almost eight years ago.
The yard has begun to look more like we Floridians expect, in way of landscaping after a particularly harsh (for Florida) winter that saw millions of cold sensitive fish, turtles and wildlife perish. The big oaks have sprouted their new leaves in bright green and the coconuts are sending new shoots to catch the spring rains.
At our Rendezvous, a long time customer and friend with a GB asked if we still kept those wonderful craftsmen who know so much about the GBs and other yachts. The answer is yes, and we have continuously added to their skills as we bring new people aboard and train them in the products and how we do business.
It seems that nearly every week I receive a nice letter regarding some particular job or jobs we have performed for a customer. Filled with genuine praise and appreciation for who we are and the standards we operate under. At our Rendezvous it was rewarding to hear the positive commentary that holds our yard crew in extremely high regard. I recall one crusty and experienced Captain who took the time to tell me that in his 25 years of running boats and being responsible for the maintenance of them that he had never had equal service in quality and value from the bottom paint job onward through the work list, despite frequenting fine yards along the eastern seaboard over the years. He expounded on the level of our fiberglass composite skills, courtesy and helpful manner.
I am justifiably proud of this integral part of what makes Marlow Marine Sales who it is and the backup for Marlow Yachts or any brokerage yacht we represent, that can cure any ill at reasonable cost and high standards.
Thanks to all of you for your contribution and thanks to all our customers for allowing us to do our job, which surely must be, to quote the Gillette Razor commercial, “The best a man could get.”-David Marlow

May 2010 • Power & Motoryacht • The Next Generation-Companies that are leading the recovery Marlow Yachts is positioned for phenomenal growth of brand awareness and value in 2010 with the introduction of three new models. In February, Marlow introduced the latest Prowler design in the Havana Series, setting new standards in center console sportfishermen with the capability to reach Mexico from Florida nonstop. Marlow Yachts' new line of semidisplacement Voyager models can venture farther, faster and with lower fuel consumption while providing a more stable and comfortable ride compared to any full-displacement cruiser of similar size. In October of 2010, Marlow Yachts will introduce its largest craft to date, 97' LOA. This exciting yacht is able to reach speeds of near 30 knots with C-32 Caterpillars, a feat no yachT of her size has accomplished.

May 2010 • SeaMagazine • A New Yacht, A new Challenge David Marlow had a plan. He wanted to build a long-range yacht that could cross any ocean without refueling, but had to make the crossing at faster speeds than conventional long-range yachts, and it had to keep its occupants comfortable. The end result of years of shipbuilding and refinement is the Marlow Voyager 76LR, which debuted at the Miami International Boat Show in February 2010.

Marlow is so confident in his latest vessel that he has concocted a contest, dubbed the Ocean Challenge. Marlow has asked his fellow builders to put their longest range cruisers in the water at West Palm Beach, FL, this summer and race to Reykjavik, Iceland- a distance of roughly 3,900 miles- using only the fuel in the yachts standard tanks.

He sees it as a harkening back to the days when yachtsmen engaged in such competitions on a regular basis. Plus, he really likes being on the water. Click on the link below for the complete article.

The Ocean Challenge

March/April 2010 • Ocean (Australia) • Marlow Declares War with new Voyager Marlow Yachts launched the Voyager 76LR motor yacht at the Miami Boat Show while also launching an aggressive promotional campaign against the makers of full-displacement motor yachts. According to Marlow, the Voyager series has the ability to cross any ocean nonstop at speeds claimed to be 30 percent greater than today's round bottom passagemakers. "Full displacement shapes are not the most economical or seaworthy shapes available, as this new range will go where they cannot go in comfort, economy and safety they cannot achieve while exhibiting a style far beyond the high, boxy and cumbersome shapes often seen". Marlow said today's passagemakers typically rely on grossly oversized stabilizers, iron ballast and excessive draft to counter their very high centers of gravity, rendering many of the world's most exotic ports, coves and harbours out of the question. Their typically slow speeds limit daylight passages to 50-70 miles.

In an invitation specifically singling out Grand Banks, Fleming, Nordhavn, Selene, Ocean Alexander, Out Island, Outer Reef, Krogan and Offshore Yachts, Marlow dared them to join him in a 3,900 mile offshore odyssey from West Palm Beach, Florida, to Reykjavik, Iceland., to let the "jury of the sea" decide which boat is the fastest and most economical for long range cruising. (see The Marlow Challenge for more information)

Tom Serio Marlow Explorer 72 A Practical Cruiser with Down Home BeautyWhen you look at a Marlow Yacht, and in this case the Marlow Explorer 72, you get the distinct sense that not only has David Marlow built a beautiful, practical yacht but he's done his homework. The eye-catching simulated lapstrake hull (reminiscent of days gone by) and the down-home styling of this yacht aren't often seen today. But under all the beauty is solid design and engineering.

2009

November 2009 • Southern Boating • Marlow's Bold Venture • We are used to Marlow Yachts showing up at boat shows with a new wrinkle or two, now it seems the builder is reinventing the genre in one large step and simultaneously throwing down the gauntlet.

In 2010 Marlow Yachts will introduce a series of yachts that David Marlow says will render heavy displacement cruisers obsolete. At February's Miami Boat Show, Marlow will introduce a Voyager 76LR that the builder says has the ability to cross any ocean nonstop at speeds 30 percent greater than today's round-bottom, full displacement vessels. The new Voyagers will be built to "Unlimited Navigation" classification and have the ability to cruise non-stop from West Palm Beach to Gibraltar or San Diego to the Line Islands at "speeds not attainable by any other power yacht on earth today under 120 feet", says David. Following his formula, the same cruisers wanting to make daylight passages only will be able to run 100 to 140 miles before dark. The 76's overall height is 15 to 25 percent lower than the current crop of offshore cruisers. Part of the innovation is new underwater profile and part is the adaptation of water ballast technology.

July 2009 • Southern Boating • The Real Miz Scarlett by Marilyn Mower (This article is not only about the new Marlow 78 but about her feisty owner, our own steel magnolia, Mary Ann Bonsey) Mary Ann's first Marlow was a brokerage Marlow 70 which she bought as soon as she saw it- even before consulting her banker or lawyer! She is now the proud owner of a new Marlow 78 which she built with a layout perfect for her lifestyle. She likes to dine out hence a large desk and office area in lieu of a dinning room table; she prefers dock-hopping rather than anchoring out hence the four-wheeled tender - a painted-to-match Smart Car convertible! Marlow create a carbon fiber and stainless steel platform for the car with a bridle to lift it off and on using the deck crane. Carbon fiber box beams were designed and built into the deck to distribute the weight of the car and crane avoiding external supports. The upper deck has a large sit down bar for eight bracketed by misters for cooling. There is nothing shy and retiring about either of these Southern Belles!

July 2009 • Power & Motoryacht • by Capt. Bill Pike (cover of July issue as seen above) How does a Solar Boat Perform? While our Mark II 70E's speeds were approximately the same as those we've measured for similar models with the same 1,001-bhp Caterpillar C18 ACERT twin diesel power-plants, she was generally more fuel-efficient and quieter (sound levels were recorded at the lower helm station) and posted significantly higher range numbers, most likely due to her relatively light-weight, high-tech construction and efficient hull form. Moreover, the 70 tracked like a train (thanks to a partial keel as well as Marlow's prop-and-propshaft-protecting strut keels), even in the Manatee River (where we did our speed runs), despite the fact that soundings of 12 and 16 feet predominate.

The solar array itself is an optional addendum rendered almost invisible by its low-profile location on the hardtop. Each beefy aluminum-framed panel in the eight panel array is roughly 3'x5', mechanically interlinked with the others, and capable of an approximate 175-watt maximum output for roughly 1,500 watts, well over the 1,400 watts the 70 typically consumes while underway, according to Marlow.

MARCH 2009 · Marlow Marine Cruising Club Enjoys Its Annual Spring Rendezvous
KEY LARGO, FL

Marlow Marine Sales, Inc. hosted its annual Spring Rendezvous at the Ocean Reef Club on March 26 – 29. This exclusive private club setting allowed an entertaining and memorable time for the Cruise Club’s 80 attendees. Our members were kept as busy as they wanted to be with many activities to choose from.

After arriving by boat, car or plane, Marlow Marine’s guests were presented with a captain’s bag loaded with goodies compliments of our gracious sponsors. It was then off to the Welcome Cocktail Party. The multi-talented musician played nine musical instruments and serenaded us throughout the evening. The private terrace overlooking the marina, waterway and natural surroundings lent itself to a perfect kickoff to the next three days activities.

The next few days included entertaining and educational seminars. Topics included a culinary presentation, a life raft demonstration, a weather on board presentation focusing on the use of weather and navigational instrumentation by High Seas Technology along with a meteorologist who displayed a live weather forecast. The seminars concluded with the ever popular round table discussions lead by David Marlow.

Other activities throughout the event included outrageous crab races and a zany photo scavenger hunt on golf carts. High winds subsided long enough on Saturday for the die hard fishermen to board “Mimi”, a 59’ Sportfish for a deep sea fishing excursion. On Saturday afternoon, our members gathered on the docks to celebrate four Marlow Explorer christenings. In addition, several boats participated in our open boat celebrations.

The “Caribbean Island Nights” theme continued throughout the entire event; evidenced by island music, rum bars, bonfire and entertainment which included a Polynesian review, complete with hula, fire and knife dancers. Those who dared were up front and center stage to learn an authentic dance of the islands.

In existence for over 14 years, the Marlow Marine Cruising Club’s rendezvous is held annually. Members include Marlow Explorer owners and owners of other quality yachts.

November 2008 • Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show

Marlow Marine Sales hosted an exclusive Owners Cocktail Party on the docks at the Marlow Explorer Yachts display for their customers at the close of the show on Saturday night. The current and prospective owners had an opportunity to view all the yachts on display at their leisure while enjoying cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. On display for the show were ME72E LR, 70E, 53C.

August 21, 2008 Marlow Yachts Limited, Inc. Hosts Explorer Owners Weekend Getaway

Over 65 Marlow yacht owners and their families converged on Nantucket Island for a three day weekend getaway.  Owners arrived at the Nantucket Boat Basin aboard their Marlow Explorer or Marlow Prowler to their pre-assigned reserved dockage, or via ferry or plane.   Upon arrival, they were greeted at the Marlow Welcome Center and later a Welcome Cocktail Party complete with full bar and lavish Hors d’Oeuvres were presented on the docks.

One yacht, hull number 72-18 arrived after an 1800 mile offshore non-stop voyage from Marlow Marine Sales near Tampa Bay Florida. Arriving with enough fuel on board to continue onward to Nova Scotia and the Bay of Fundy without refueling, REBEL YELL continued onward for over 400 additional miles when the event was completed. She arrived in Penobscot Bay with more than 1000 gallons of usable fuel still aboard despite not refueling since leaving Tampa Bay. Using Gulf Stream currents for a small boost in speed, REBEL YELL averaged 9.6 knots over the bottom, dock to dock, passing west of Bermuda at approximately 300 miles distant and then direct to Wasque Channel and Nantucket Sound. The voyage was completed without a single adjustment or repair in 169 hours, slightly over seven days.

Numerous planned events created a close camaraderie within the group.  Events included a full menu breakfast of their choice at a well known restaurant and a historical bus tour aboard our own reserved air conditioned bus.  Some of the sites included The Old Mill, which is the oldest American windmill still in operation, the hundreds of acres of cranberry bogs, lighthouses, and the shipwreck and life-saving museum.

Saturday evening guests were treated to an outdoor cocktail party overlooking Nantucket Harbor followed by a Nantucket clam bake.  Special gifts were presented to the owners.

To bid farewell, our group once again gathered on the docks for a scrumptious continental breakfast consisting of freshly made baked goods, fruit, coffee and juice.

This is the second weekend getaway that Marlow Yachts Limited has sponsored, the first one being held at the Renaissance Vinoy in December 2007.  These getaways enhance the ownership of these yachts by allowing owners to get together in a relaxed environment to swap cruising stories and share their love affair of their yachts.  It also allows us to inspect our yachts first hand after undertaking hundreds of cruising miles.

Marlow Yachts thanks all its adventuresome owners who are currently voyaging to Venezuela, the Amazon River Coast, New Caledonia, Lord Howe Island in the Pacific, the Baltic Sea and north to Labrador.

January, 2008 Marlow Yachts LTD Becomes NMMA Certified

Marlow Yachts LTD  has been certified under the National Marine Manufacturers Association’s Certification Program.  While all boats in the United States must meet U.S. Coast Guard regulations, boats built by manufacturers participating in the NMMA Certified Program must also meet the more comprehensive standards set by the American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC).

“Earning the ‘NMMA Certified’ designation is a major achievement for Marlow” says Chairman David Marlow. “It is independent evidence for our customers that we’re committed to building a quality product and have the utmost concern for their safety and well being.”

The NMMA Certification program covers approximately 31 categories of standards, which vary by boat type and size and include: fuel systems; ventilation; passenger and weight capacity; horsepower capacity; flotation; electrical systems; navigation lights; warning label placement and guidelines; and steering systems.

The NMMA Certified label on a Marlow Yacht lets you know it was built to meet and often exceed, strict quality and safety standards established by the U.S. Coast Guard and the American Boat & Yacht Council. Certified boats must also pass rigorous annual inspections from independent third-party inspectors. As a result, U.S. Coast Guard statistics show NMMA Certified boats have been shown to be safer than non-certified boats.

Marlow Yachts LTD build yachts in the 37-86-foot range for long-range cruising in weather many yachts stay in port.  “We are proud to achieve this important milestone in our continuing pursuit of yachting perfection. Our promise to our customers as we prepare to deliver our 100th hull is to continue to lead the industry in technology, innovation, quality of workmanship and materials with above all else, integrity to our customers, employees and suppliers” said David Marlow, Chairman.

April 17, 2007 • Marlow Marine Sales Hosts 12th Annual Spring Rendezvous • For their Annual Rendezvous, the Marlow Marine Cruising Club gathered on beautiful Useppa Island, located in Pine Island Sound, on the west coast of Florida. During three sun splashed days of April, 2007, Useppa Island opened its exclusive doors to some of the most beautiful cruising yachts in the world.

Useppa Island offers an old Florida look with the very best in amenities for those wishing to get away from it all. Tropical foliage rarely seen, including a Kapok tree spanning over 125 feet across its lush understory, covers the island. Two century old live oaks with exotic orchids lent their fragrance and ambience to a wonderful celebration of business and pleasure. Accessible by boat only, over 100 owners and guests arrived on board 34 yachts to this private exclusive island.

This event is extremely popular with Marlow Explorer owners and is a signature event for Marlow Marine Sales. Daily activities included a group dinghy excursion to Cayo Costa State Park, an afternoon excursion to Boca Grande for lunch and shopping and several seminars, including the effective use of fire extinguishers, hosted by the Useppa Fire and Safety Organization, the latest electronics presented by SunCoast Electronics and Raymarine, and a recent owner’s experience traversing the Great Loop.

Exploring Galley Cuisine - Marlow’s Own Recipes Now Published

Through her commitment to fresh, seasonal, and organic foods, Barbara Marlow  has created “Exploring Galley Cuisine”, a series of  seafood meals, gleaned from a lifetime of cruising with her husband, David Marlow.  These recipes take on the big topics: romance, the road within, and food.   Her collection of recipes succeeds in capturing the universal elements of food and dining pleasure, no matter where you may find yourself.

Carefully edited and presented, the recipes are introduced with a brief synopsis and commented on by her personal experiences. Barbara Marlow’s  book is a gentle manifesto as much as it is a cookbook. Her descriptions mingle the perfume of freshly picked lemons from a lush, fragrant tree, the sheen of hours-old salmon, and the quiver of a fresh picked zucchini blossom. Most of these recipes are easy to do at home, even if you don't have access to the fresh seafood ingredients that Barbara does while cruising, but that is really the point of this cookbook. She encourages cooks to be guided by their senses and to use local produce in recipes inspired by the rich flavors of land and sea. Your backyard may not be in Provençe, but it can be just as tasty if you do some foraging in your own neighborhood.

Reading this book is like sitting down at a worldwide table, tasty, engrossing, a Babel of flavors and attitudes that combine to a very satisfying meal.

Barbara Marlow is an accomplished home cook and yachtswoman, who has cruised with her husband for over 30 years. She has collected these recipes together from her submissions to the Marlow Marine Cruising Club's newsletter during the past 12 years.

Barbara Marlow’s “Exploring Galley Cuisine”  is available for purchase only through Marlow Marine Sales.
